Although the Bennett Brook Railway has never been a carrier of
paying freight, some wagons have been aquired by the organisation from the WAGR
and re-gauged from 3ft 6inch to the BBR's 2ft gauge to provide an amount of
variation in rollingstock and to enable the membership to occasionally play
trains.
Some of the freight wagons however, are quite often used for
what they were originally designed to do. For example : it is possible to couple
and pipe through, the J class water tank to our NG steam locomotives to provide
extra water supplies for busy operating days. Our QBB bogie flat wagon has been
used many times to carry all sorts of items such as Signals and Sleepers to
locations along the railway.
More items will be added time permitting.

Ex WAGR D class
#33
After
withdrawal from active service by Westrail, this van was used as a
grounded body for explosives storage at Midland Workshops for many years
before being aquired by BBR. A chassis from an LA ballast wagon was
modified to 610mm gauge and the body restored and installed on it. The van
has been painted in standard WAGR livery on one side and has a recreation
of an advertising van livery from the 1950’s on the other. The original
WAGR advertising vans were DA and V vans. The D is visually very similar
to a DA

as an "R" wagon for WAGR in 1897 and converted to Q class in

Ex WAGR V class #3326 Goods Van |
 |
Z63 Brake Van
Typical of many
WAGR brake or guards vans, this vehicle is a replica built from a V van.
(V3263). This was done as a standard Z van would be too wide to fit within
BBR’s 610mm stock outline, whereas the narrower V van does. V3263 ended
its days with Westrail as VW3263, a workmans van |
